What to Do With Your House When Pre-Planning for Long-Term Care
Planning for the future is never easy, especially when the decisions involve aging, long-term care, and the family home. On Tuesday, join us for an insightful and empowering discussion on one of the most important, yet often overlooked, issue facing aging adults and their families: What to do with your house when planning for long-term care.
📅 Tuesday, November 25th
🕗 8:00–10:00 AM
📍 Trinity Lutheran Church, 2700 Fulton St E, Grand Rapids, MI 49506
We are honored to welcome two dynamic experts who will bring both depth of knowledge and compassion to this crucial conversation:
🟤 Catherine Jacobs - With a Michigan-based practice focused on elder law, Catherine Jacobs provides comprehensive estate and succession planning for individuals, families and businesses. She draws on a deep well of knowledge from her experience owning and operating her own law firm for seven years. In that capacity Catherine helped families plan for their future, provided planning services for the elderly in the areas of Medicaid qualification and assisted clients with loved ones with special needs, in addition to her core trust and estate planning services.
As a well-respected advocate with a passion for the rights of the disabled, Catherine still approaches her work the same way — with a deep understanding of clients’ needs and a plan for their future and beyond. She finds it deeply rewarding to work with the families of older adults who have health issues and strategize to get them the level of care they need, whether that’s at home, in an assisted living community or in a skilled nursing community.
Catherine devotes many hours to serving on community boards and committees for Elder Law of Michigan, Ada Township, Senior Neighbors Grand Rapids, Caregiver Resource Network, the Council on Aging and Forest Hills Public Schools Foundation. Her involvement in these organizations strengthens and grows her valuable network of relationships and enables her to suggest the specific resources and people who can best assist clients’ elderly family members. Catherine finds it fulfilling to help find solutions that make everyone's life easier and better.
Describing her excellent communication skills as her “superpower,” Catherine simplifies and explains complex issues to clients in ways they can easily understand. One of Catherine’s favorite quotes comes from Albert Einstein, who said: “If you can't explain it to a six-year-old, you don't understand it yourself.”
Catherine regularly speaks on topics of estate and succession planning, elder law and special needs care all over the state of Michigan for associations, foundations and universities.
🟤 Jordan Painter - He is the Broker and Owner of Keystone Home Group Realty, a boutique West Michigan real estate brokerage with a team of 19 dedicated Realtors. Born and raised in West Michigan, Jordan began his real estate career in 2010 and has built a reputation for being deeply client focused, educating and advising clients to help them make fully informed decisions.
Under his leadership, Keystone Home Group Realty serves a wide range of clients, from first time homebuyers to luxury homeowners and those transitioning into senior living. Jordan also owns a short term rental management company based along the Southwest Michigan lakeshore, helping investors maximize profits through expert property management and strategic market insight.
Outside of real estate, Jordan has been married for over 20 years and is the proud father of three children and a grandchild. He is actively involved in men’s ministry, coaching, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and fitness, reflecting his passion for personal growth, discipline, and community.
